Peaceful demonstration held in New Dehli

A group of students and Burmese activists in New Dehli have peacefully staged a protest to Mrs Aung San Oo who arrived at New Dehli airport. Protesters have denounced the cruel and shameful action of Mr and Mrs Aung San Oo, who took legal action against his own younger sister (1991 Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi), who has been subjected to harassment by the military junta for 12 years.

We have no personal feelings towards Mr and Mrs Aung San Oo. However, since Daw Aung San Suu Kyi represents 50 million Burmese people this is not a personal issue anymore, it has become a national issue. In fact, we are just fighting the system... the system of dictatorship, brutality and injustice.

It cannot be denied that the existence of NLD party and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi as our leader is crucial for the future of Burma. The New Dehli protest has demonstrated the unity, strength and the desire of 50 million oppressed Burmese people's longing for Freedom and Democracy.

On behalf of all the Burmese activists around the world, we would like to give a big salutation to ABSL (All Burma Students League) and our colleagues at New Dehli for their dedication to struggling for peace and justice in our country.

Thank you very much....

Please write / phone / fax / e mail to Aung San Oo and Lei Lei Nwe Thein and urge them to withdraw their legal action against our leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
