Suu Kyi needs to spread the word

This is what might be called a personal plea to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi:In my humble opinion, now is the time for her to travel beyond the guns and violence of Burma. The criminal abusers and oppressors of her people have played their last card in Rangoon.

As the true leader of her country and as a Nobel laureate, she can do no less than present her cause and her nation's plight on the world stage. Now is the time for her to use her moral coin to forge and set the mould for the future freedom of the Burmese people. She cannot accomplish this as a de facto prisoner in Rangoon, in spite of her mettle and iron will.

Suu Kyi brings with her the absolute moral authority to speak for her people and against the criminals in uniform who have stolen her country and turned it into a modern day Barbary Coast, spreading violence, unrest and an uncontrollable drug problem throughout the Southeast Asian region, if not the world.

Her welcome in the West and in Asia would be beyond precedent. The ones who might withhold this welcome would only validate themselves as co-conspirators in the rape and pillage of this once beautiful and historic country.

Given her impeachable moral authority, her eloquence and her formidable presence, she would bring a standing ovation from the US Congress and probably 90% of the United Nations General Assembly.

Now is the time. As a true Burmese patriot, the appearance of Suu Kyi on the world stage would exponentially increase her influence and that of her downtrodden compatriots in Burma.

It's time to bring the battle outside of the barricaded family compounds in Rangoon and bring it to where the real game is played-where the real influence lies-into the very real world of financial and political interests-both inside and outside of Asia-to the UN, the US Congress, the European Union, and last, but not least, to the timid and evasive members of Asean.
