Myanmar Does Not Support Subversive Activities Against Neighbouring Countries

It is most regrettable that the Nation Newspaper on 18 September 2001, under the caption "Terrorist Networks around the World", stated that the National Socialist Council of Nagaland is supported by Myanmar.

The Embassy wishes to state categorically that Myanmar has never supported or allowed insurgents, dissidents and other negative elements of neighbouring countries to use the territory of Myanmar for their activities and schemes.

The media should be more responsible in their reporting and should not take advantage of the recent tragic incidents to portray Myanmar in a negative light.
